SERVICES OVERVIEW
Service is among the highest callings of a human being. As such, the core mission of Masjid Shuhada is to provide valuable services to its large community. These services are meant to foster a strong sense of family and community, and provide spiritual solace and sacred space in a fast-paced and sometimes overwhelming world. Many people benefit from Masjid Shuhada’s services on a regular basis. We feel honored to be of service to our community.
1. PRAYER SERVICES 5 TIMES A DAY
One of the core services Masjid Sshuhada offers is Prayer Services. Masjid Shuhada is a full time place of worship that conducts 5 daily prayer services 7 days a week all year long. Additionally, Masjid Shuhada holds Friday prayer due to space and parking lots limitations. The timing for each prayer is posted on the right side of the home page (main page).
2. MARRIAGE SERVICES
We offer pre-marriage advice to couples about to join each other in the holy bond and commitment of matrimony. We perform the formal marriage service, in conjunction with State requirements and documentation.
3. COUNSELING
Trials visit each of us throughout our lives. During these moments, we need advice and counsel to help us through these trials. The Imam and other personnel of Masjid Shuhada have many years of experience offering marriage, youth, family, and grief counseling.
4. “ASK THE IMAM”
Often times we are confronted with a situation in which the right choice is not clear or we simply are not aware of the best ethical decision to make. Masjid Shuhada offers people opportunities to ask our Imam about these situations and how Islam’s sacred law addresses them.
5. ARBITRATION
Whenever disagreements arise (whether they involve business matters or other aspects of life), it is useful to seek an impartial arbiter to help solve the problem. Masjid Shuhada offers objective arbitration to solve disputes and preserve relations between the disputants.
6. FUNERAL SERVICES
When the inevitability of death comes to our loved ones, the details and pressures of funerals can be taxing. Masjid Shuhada offers grieving families funeral services, including washing of the body, proper wrapping with cloth, funeral sermons, and prayer services.
7. CHARITY
Thousands of needy families each year receive food from our Food Pantry. Among the most praised kinds of charity is the feeding of the poor. Whenever we relieve the stress of the needy, our wealth never decreases and our rank in the eyes of God increases.
8. WEEKEND SCHOOL
Masjid Shuhada for the last 25 years has provided weekend education for our youth to learn timeless wisdom and gain valuable knowledge that will help achieve a firm understanding of their faith and the ethics and morals it provides them. Over the years, thousands of young boys and girls have learned at Masjid Shuhada Sunday School. (Call for details.)
9. COMMUNITY CENTER
The Community Center is a place for our community to hold special events and meetings. The Center also serves as a safe and wholesome space for our youth to learn, participate in athletics, and socialize in a dignified manner.
10. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Masjid Shuhada holds regular lectures and special events in which our community may expand their knowledge. The programs include Quran commentary and wisdom, details of sacred law, lessons from the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him), history of Muslim civilization, the proper performance of rites of worship (like prayer and Hajj), civic issues and duties, and much more.
